After ten years of sellings their titles (starting with Half-Life in November 1998), Valve wanted us to know how good they have done on the video games market. So they compiled a list of all the retail games they sold so far, tilte by title and well, we have to admit that this is pretty impressive in some ways (and not completely unexpected). However, this list does not include the number of titles sold via Steam (for some reasons, Valve doesn't seem willing to communicate on that) and we don't know if the numbers regard only PC games or consoles as well.
I won't run into the statistics there. I'll let you do the maths. However I'll just say that seeing the number of copies of The Orange Box they sold via the normal retail market, it seems that the physical distribution of games still has some bright days ahead. Curiously though, if Valve remembers their 10 years of marketing, they didn't say a word nor do a single thing to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Half-Life franchise which is a little weird considering that well... it made them rich.
