Well, we don't talk a lot about strategy games because they generally feature a steep learning curve and not everyone has the time for that. However, I'll mention this one Napoleon's Campaigns simply because I know that someone in The Foxhole is a real fan of the Napoleonic Era (and the history of warfare in general). The guys of Ageod Studio (they were also responsible for the previous game Birth Of America and American Civil War) just released an English demo for the game and as far as I've been able to test it, it seems historically accurate. It is not simple to master though and to be frank I even completed one scenario winning without really knowing why ![]() In the full game, you'll be able to take control of La Grande Armée in the big battles of this period or you'll also have the possibility to take control of the opposing side (the different coalitions). Authors claim that you'll also be able to win Waterloo if you do it right (well as a matter of fact the real battle was a close one and could have been a French victory if it wasn't for the misplaced orders of Marshal Ney at some point an the unfortunate miscommunication with Grouchy). Well, the game is far to be easy to master but it's still something to check out for some, if you are in strategy games that is and a fan of history... So get the demo there. Available in France since last November (hey they started with Napoleon's homeland, nothing shocking in that) Napoleon's Campaigns will be released this coming April for Europe. No clear release date seems to have been determined for North America. Discuss this news in the forum |
