1   Link   Entertainement Software Rating Board (ESRB)
The ESRB is the auto-regulation authority granting video games age suitability ratings for North America (USA, Canada). It is an independent association born in 1994 from the will of the ESA (Entertainment Software Association) regrouping actors of the gaming industry.
2   Link   Pan European Game Information (PEGI)
PEGI is the European equivalent of the ESRB although much more recent (2003). Like the ESRB in North America the PEGI rating in Europe is not mandatory but is strongly advised if a publisher want to sell a game in Europe.
