Not sure how much this rumor may be considered reliable (after all the definition of a rumor is to be exactly the opposite of reliable), but the site eXophage quote a "reliable [albeit] anonymous source" (I added the [albeit] myself because I love how "anonymous" sources can be considered reliable -- it reminds me so well of all the stuff one may read about stars these days) that sent them some details on the configurations required/recommended to run Assassin's Creed on PC. And let's say this is so highly ridiculous that the rumor might be just that... a rumor.
Requirements are given as follow: Minimum System Requirements: Now you can take this item from two points of view.... Leave it as a rumor (issued by a guy bored with Ubisoft or Assassin's Creed or both) or assume it is true and then one has to really consider the sanity of the developers and wonder if they are not "smoking the carpet" that covers the floor of their cars. When you take a look at the specs of both the XBox 360 and the PS3 on which the game was initially released last December, there's no way that a port could swallow that much resources even adding better textures and effects at reasonable resolution unless Ubisoft just translated the thing from console to PC and leave it as that without thinking further about platform optimization (suggesting that a XBox 360 controller is a good thing to have is a bad omen). Even Crysis didn't have the bad taste to propose the minimum requirements indicated above. So hoax or not? I'll let you be the judge. Meanwhile, the PC version of Assassin's Creed is still scheduled for a release this Spring. Who knows maybe the info will be clarified by then... |
